    Butcher Paper

    What is butcher paper?

Butcher paper also known as meat saver paper, is like other varieties of paper, created from wood pulp. Butcher paper can come in black, white, and pink colours pink is also known as peach-coloured paper. And each of these ingredients has some distinct characteristics that influence how you'd prepare your dinner. Make sure the paper you buy is food-grade butcher paper, regardless of the kind because nobody wants to eat from products that aren't food-graded. For obvious reasons, this can be very dangerous and it should be avoided at all costs.

    Different kinds of butcher paper

There are different kinds of butcher paper that all have a specific purpose. All types of meat saver paper are colour coded so you don't have to worry about picking the right one for the job. Here we'll explain which type of butcher paper is used in which situation.

    White butcher paper

White butcher paper is uncoated, FDA certified, and ideal for wrapping subs, sandwiches, meats, and other items quickly. White butcher paper may also be used as a tablecloth or to protect table surfaces during arts and crafts activities. Because it enables smoke to pass through yet does not contain moisture, this breathable paper may be used to wrap meats before smoking.

    Brown butcher paper

Brown parchment paper is a craft paper that can be used to wrap meat to create neat packaging. This paper is mostly meant for craft usage, however, it is made from the same wood pulp as cooking paper. Brown paper differs from other forms of paper in that it is not processed or treated with additives.

    Pink/Peach paper

This butcher paper comes in a variety of colours ranging from light tan to dark pink, and it's great for hiding blood and fluids from raw meats. The paper is robust enough to prevent leaks while still enabling the packed meat to breathe, which keeps it from becoming soggy. Peach butcher paper is perfect for wrapping meats for smoking since it absorbs the fragrant smoke while also protecting the meat from pathogens.

    Steak paper

Steak paper is typically used to exhibit beef and pig, but it also works well as a backdrop in butcher cabinets to display any sort of meat. Wrapping your meat with steak paper helps keep the fluids in while also reducing colour loss, allowing you to serve a clean-looking and fresh product to your consumers.

    Freezer paper

Despite the fact that these two goods seem identical and are usually offered in the same section of the supermarket, they are not the same. When freezer paper is wet, it is treated with silicone and other chemicals to make it more durable. On the smoker, don't use freezer paper since the chemicals will leech out even at moderate temperatures.

Unlike butcher paper, freezer paper has a specific coating on one side that preserves foods while they are being stored in the freezer. Because of the coated moisture barrier on one side and the thick paper on the other, this paper is ideal for preserving meats. To aid with first in, first out freezer storage, notes and dates can be written on the paper side to keep everything organised.

    Gardenia paper

Gardenia paper is a high-performance, premium paper that provides outstanding moisture resistance and protection. Gardenia paper is often favoured over plastic packaging because it avoids oil or juice leakage while also being permeable to reduce sogginess. It has a distinct tint that goes well with fresh seafood and poultry and easily distinguishes it from Gardenia premium paper.

Why pink paper is famous for BBQ

For a variety of reasons, pink butcher paper is utilized for barbecues. When smoking, the most common application is to wrap a large piece of meat in it. This is usually done around 165 degrees internal temperature to assist in speeding up the cooking process and get that portion of brisket past stall temperature.

Wrapping the meat in foil in the smoker helps to improve the bark and keeps the meat juicy. The peach paper will absorb some moisture and enable some evaporation during cooking, but not enough to damage your food.
